I like to come back and read old blogs about other people tradition and ritual. It is fascinating for me to read how you celebrate Christmas. I am shopping for a nativity set but it will take me awhile. I was raise in different religion and I am still learning as I go along. Thank you for keeping your old post so I can come back when I need to ask myself some questions.

Dear Maxwells, I just happened to see your comment today about not knowing where to find the little ceramic scrolls/doves with Scripture and the names of God on them. I don't know if others make them as well, but there is a store here in the Denver area where they are made. If you are interested, I will find the address and phone number for you. I have some of these myself, and my mother-in-law decorates her whole tree with these.

You know what is really funny is that I haven't put up any decorations yet. I just have not had the time.I had heard some years ago about not putting up a tree, but I really was not convinced about it. I am really glad that I took the time to read what Terri's thoughts were on the subject!! I plan on reading the passage of scripture in Jeremiah with my husband and son.I want to also say that you have been a HUGE blessing to me and my family. Praise God, we got rid of our TV. Major blessings are already coming from that!! We are now doing family devotions at night. I have seen a huge change in my husband. It is amazing how much time that a television steals from you and your family.Keep up the great job of encouraging others!! I look forward to seeing you in Jackson, MS in February. God speed.
In Christ love,
Melodie B.

Does your family have a christmas tree? We love the christmas tree but are wondering if you think it is a 'redeemable' christmas ornament!?

Thank you for the Godly example you are to our family. His blessing be on you this season and always.

Mrs. B,

No we don't. The verses in Jeremiah played an important part in that decision. For us there was nothing redeemable in it.

In Christ Jesus,

Steve

I appreciated the fact that you shared your Christ-centred ideas here. I am so delighted that my hubby has finally decided to get rid of our tree. We will plan to decorate in different ways next year and I'm so excited! Our theme will be all about the celebration of Christ's life! What great ideas are here too! I wrote about my list of ideas on my blog and hope to implement many next year. May God alone be glorified in our home during the Christmas season and all throughout the year!

Thank you for posting on your blog about Christmas decorations, it has really touched my heart to start making that our outward focus as well. Though in our hearts the season was focused on Jesus, but to put it into decorations is a wonderful way to share it with others as well. I thank you for the tasteful way that you have approached and would love some ideas as to where you purchased some of your decorations. I know that my children will look forward to having more adornments that really show our love for Jesus. Thank you.
May God Bless your family during this Christmas season.

Your decorations are beautiful. I love the wooden nativity. Did one of your boys make that?? We have a nativity puzzle that one of them made several years ago and we love it!! Teri's corner challenged me a few years ago when I first read it to evaluate our decor. With my husband's permission I threw away many of our decorations that were too prominant in our home. Then, as we prayed about it, my mom gave us an absolutely beautiful fireplace screen that she bought at a small decorating store in NC with the nativity on it. It is the focal point of our holiday decor and we adorn the mantal above it with very simple garland and a couple of candles, so as not to take away from the nativity. Even though we always felt in our hearts that Jesus was the center of the season, changing the way we decorate has truly made a difference in our focus during the Christmas season.
