I'm catching up on your blog (again! :)). I love reading all your updates but finding computer time is a bit hard :). But know we all love you, think of you and pray for you daily.
My favorite thing about this post (beside the great idea of hosting a neighborhood picnic and the bright decorations) was seeing Abigail :) She is sooo big now and such a sweet face. Eliseo is a month older than her and he's still not walking...and he's not in any hurry either :) He says all sorts of words while Nehemiah is 2 1/2 and "eh", "uh", "ooo", "oh" make up the majority of his sentences :) They are all so different, so unique, special and truly fearfully and wonderfully made.
Seeing those pics makes me miss you all so much and how I'd love to play with Abigail! Tell Melanie hi from me too :)
love and prayers,
Jaynee

Mr. Maxwell,

You mentioned that Abigail will sit quietly through Family Bible Time. How did Nathan and Melanie train her?

We are going to be doing foster care (and hopefully adoption) and, since our children were elementary school aged when we were saved, we need some ideas and suggestions on ways to help little ones sit quietly.

Thanks!
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Family Bible time every night. The key is consistency.

what a wonderful neighborhood gathering nathan and melaine do. and what a wonderful witness they are to their neighbors. your neighbors are so blessed to have them as neighbors and friends.

abigail is getting so big. she looks so tall in one of the pictures. is she walking now? does she have words she is saying? i don't know how you get any work done with her around to entertain--i would have a hard time i know. she is adorable.

i am thrilled to see you are coming to washington in 2010. washington and vancouver, b.c. my question is, as you know i no longer have children at home, but could i still attend the conference? honestly, it would be a disappointment to have your family so close and not take the opportunity to meet you. being as we're just outside of seattle either vancouver is equal distance from us. it's truely a blessing to have you coming this way.

blessings, mari
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
We are blessed by our neighbors and so it is a very nice situation.

Abigail is walking when holding onto someone's hands. It will still be awhile yet. She has a word or two, but pointing and "eh" seems to be working quite well for her right now. It's true when she shows up, all works seems to stop and a good time is had by all. It's a good thing she has learned to sit still during family Bible time or when she is over we wouldn't have a very fruitful time in the Word. We enjoy her greatly.

Sister, we would be very disappointed if we didn't see you on this trip. Keep watching the speaking schedule. It is possible there will be one closer to you. I had an inquiry yesterday and time will tell if it works out.

God bless.

In Christ Jesus,

I loved this post! My husband and I just moved to a new neighborhood and I have been trying to come up with ways to reach out to our neighbors. Maybe next year we will host our own 4th of July event :) Thank you for the idea!

What a wonderful outreach!! We are supposed to "love thy neighbor as thyself" as commanded in the Bible. Too often people overlook their neighbors, and waste time on non-productive things...when we could be out helping others and being disciples for Christ!

Thanks Maxwells for shining the light of Jesus, and convicting others (through Christ convicting you guys) of the need of discipleship in our communities!

Love,
Shannon W.
