Scripture Print Closeout

Tuesday, December 27th, 2011

We wanted to let you all know that we are discontinuing the Scripture Prints. They just haven’t sold much, and we are ready to clear them out. Perhaps it is because they aren’t framed, or it might simply be that people aren’t interested. Whatever the case, we have some stock that we are going to clear out as we discontinue the Scripture Prints.

If you are interested, please see this link or click on an individual print below. This offer is only good while our supplies last.

Love,
Sarah

PS – A Christmas blog post with pictures will be coming in the next few days.

MOTH Book Processing

Thursday, December 8th, 2011

Monday morning, Anna Marie, Mary, Jenny (a friend), and I processed MOTH books. We had a sweet time as we talked and worked. In addition, it is a great feeling of accomplishment as the boxes stack up on a pallet. Thank you, girls (and Junior, right Anna Marie :-) ?!), for all your help.

We frequently receive testimonies about Managers of Their Homes.
Here’s one:

“Thank you so much for this book! It has been extremely helpful. Not only do I have 3 children of my own, but I also watch 2 children. So I have 5 children 4 and under. My oldest has begun kindergarten this year. Using the schedule has made the days run smoothly. Everything is getting done (even the laundry!). I am not a schedule person. But it doesn’t seem like a schedule as much when I am the one planning the day!” Jamie

Anna was keeping us company, too, as she was doing the Titus2 orders that morning.

Winter Days is Here

Saturday, November 26th, 2011

With great excitement we share that Winter Days with the Moodys, book #7 in the series, is available! This is, I believe, the first book to be released at the “right” season. In fact, the book begins soon after Thanksgiving, so it truly is exactly “on time.” Each book is an incredible process, and I felt the Lord’s Hand every step of the way. I am grateful to each of my family members for their support and encouragement as they too have heavily invested in the book.

Winter Days with the Moodys

Here’s what one mom recently shared after reading a “pre-release” version of Winter Days.

My daughter’s whole attitude changes while reading these books. She learns from the attitudes and experiences of the Moody children, and she imitates the godly character traits that she sees in them. I have watched my daughter’s actions and reactions change in ways that honor God, and it is a result of the good influence of the Moody family.

As a mother, I am very challenged by the parenting skills of Mr. and Mrs. Moody. I find that God uses the Moody parents to shine light on areas in my own parenting that need to be reshaped by His hand.

Finally, my children are able to read books about a family whose lifestyle and values are like ours. The Moody family is very similar to our own homeschooling, “larger-than-typical” family. The Moody series is the only fictional work I have found which parallels the real blessings, challenges, and experiences that our family faces.

In our family, we have tried to implement many of the tools provided by Titus 2. The Moody books refer to ChorePacks and scheduling in a very positive light which encourages my children to embrace the implementation of these in our home. As a mom, the Moody books have really helped me to see how the Titus 2 resources “play out” in a “real” family setting. — Kelly

Another Night – Thank You For Praying

Thursday, December 30th, 2010

Thank you so much for praying for our night of recording. The Lord blessed and much was accomplished even after a rusty start. We have much of the recording done and there’s just a few vocals to finish up. Lord willing, we will be heading back a week from Monday to finish all of the recording and then the mixing process will start.

Getting tired yet, Anna?

When Nathan, Melanie, and the girls popped in for a visit, they added a renewed spark to the group!

"Aunt Anna, would you take a picture of me eating my suckah?" Abby enjoyed watching the whole process of recording!

I think he's looking a little tired.

New Books Announcement Plus a Bit of Background

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009

We wanted to let our blog readers know that Steve’s “project” that caused him to miss being able to write two Dad’s Corners is now available. For some time, Steve has had a burden on his heart for helping busy, time-pressured, and often stressed Christian dads be all that God has called them to be. In addition, requests for information on time management for men come to us regularly.

This summer with the house project behind us and before investing time in the bus conversion, Steve spent many weeks and hours working on his new book called Redeeming the Time: A Practical Guide to a Christian Man’s Time Management.

This book is designed not only to help a man manage his time, but also to allow him to fulfill his calling as a husband and father in Christ Jesus. We are excited about the feedback we received from the men who read Steve’s manuscript.

Even though we aren’t announcing the book in our Corners mailing yet, we know that some of our blog readers are anxiously awaiting Sarah’s Moody book completion. Because some of you might want Steve’s book as well, we thought we should let you know since shipping is less expensive when you get the two books in one order.  We didn’t want you to order Sarah’s book, pay shipping, and then when we announced Steve’s book order that and pay shipping again.

God is Good, ALL the Time

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

It has been a challenging last week (really several weeks!), but as Dad encourages us, God IS good all of the time! We have had many opportunities to rest in Jesus, and we praise Him for all that He has been doing and continues to do.

The “main” event this past week was the bus emergency (a forthcoming post on that one!). I was talking to a friend in Canada on the phone today, and she asked how we were. As I told her what had been going on, she said the Lord had prompted her to pray for us this last week. She didn’t know why, but she obeyed, and prayed often for our family! Wow! We were very touched that the Lord had moved in her heart, leading her to pray for us, when we definitely needed it.

In the midst of everything, we shared through music and testimony at our wonderful nursing home church. We were glad for Nathan to join us (and we missed Christopher who was sick!).

A Moody Request

It’s Off!

Saturday, August 2nd, 2008

August 1st was a day of special significance for several in our family, namely Dad, Mom, and me. It represented the deadline of a new resource project.

I remember well the evening back in May, when I was driving back from Home Depot with Dad. We were having a wonderful time of fellowship, and our conversation drifted to a topic that Dad and Mom felt that it was time to write about. Dad mentioned that he would like to have the book done this summer to take on our fall trip, and Mom’s school time would be freed up with summer arriving.

It didn’t seem possible to accomplish, but the next day, Dad called a family meeting without telling us what it was about. He had our curiosity aroused, but he did tell us it didn’t have to do with matrimony :-) .  That evening, he shared about the project the Lord had laid on his and Mom’s hearts, and asked if we children were in support and if we would be willing to pitch in and take care of Mom’s responsibilities so she could write. We all joyfully agreed, and so the project began, back in May.

The last few months have been quite busy because Dad and Mom have spent many, many hours working on the project. I became involved with it this month because I format the book and do a lot of proofreading. The last two weeks have been very intense as Mom and I have worked to wrap it up.

Yesterday afternoon, with a happy and relieved heart, the book was sent to the printer—praise the Lord! I’ll give you a peek of a bit of text from the back cover :-) .

Sarah

“Have you ever wanted to sit down with an experienced homeschooling couple and ask them every question you could think of about homeschooling? Managers of Their Schools: A Practical Guide to Homeschooling is the next best thing. With eight children and twenty-three years as a homeschooling family, the Maxwells share their answers to the questions they are frequently asked.”

Two New Books

Wednesday, May 16th, 2007

1174-front.jpgBoth of the new books, Spring with the Moodys, and Just Around the Corner, Just Around the Corner, Volume 2Volume 2 are printed and here! We receive regular e-mails from families asking when the next Moody book will be out, so I know quite a few children are anxiously awaiting this Moody installment. We also have been asked when the next volume of Just Around the Corner (this one includes four more years’ worth of the Corners) would be available. We finally had time to compile it! :-)

Spring with the Moodys

Friday, December 29th, 2006

 mapleforwebsite.jpg

Cute dog? Well, it has more meaning than just that. Last Friday, that picture and four others were mailed off to the artist to begin sketching for Spring with the Moodys. This picture of “Maple” (actually Lady in real life) will be used by the artist for her drawings. For each chapter of a Moodys book, we decide what we want for the illustration. Then we need to get a photograph of what it should look like so the artist knows what to draw.

The basic text is in, and I am working on revising and editing before the book goes to the proofreader. I’m hoping by the middle of next year that Spring will be out. Your prayers are greatly appreciated, as I’ve found this book to be the most challenging of all four thus far.

Joyfully His,
Sarah

What Children Think of ChorePacks

Friday, August 11th, 2006

We love to hear feedback from families who are using the Managers of Their Chores book and ChorePack system. I thought I’d share two VERY cute comments we received.

(The ChorePacks are like a mobile To Do list for children. Here is a photo of a Chorepack being worn by Jesse):
A Chorepack in action

Comment #1: “Just wanted to share that this weekend our 5 year old dd happen to see a person with a badge id type clip and said so happily ‘look he is wearing a ChorePack!’ Our whole family just had the happiest hearts and biggest smiles! Thanks again! Shana :o )”

Comment #2: “My 22 month old wanted me to clip one on his diaper so he could be like his big sisters.”

Only for Jesus,
Sarah
