It has been so liberating!! Our oldest girl said on the first day, "Wow! I don't feel like we are doing anything, but we are getting it all done." Usually I'm pushing to get just a little bit more done before breakfast or lunch or whatever and the poor kids are stressed. Now I know we have time to do it all and we actually have lunch at noon. We also read stories and worked on 4H projects. I've also finally gotten to some of those sewing projects. My husband told me he hasn't seen me going nuts since we started the schedule. Thanks for putting the book together. I read it in a couple of days. I asked my husband to read the chapter for dads. I haven't read that chapter, but I noticed some immediate changes in his efforts around the home. We have been Christians for two years and have been working on him 'taking over' the role as head of the household, but didn't really know what that meant. I think what you have in that chapter helped him with some of the thoughts that he had as far as what being 'head of the house' means.

I tried our schedule loosely for one week. Whew! I am an organized person who likes schedules anyway, but am quite amazed at all we accomplish each day! However, the best part about it all is the fact that when I get into bed each night I have done the most important things that God has placed me on this earth for! This book also made me realize how much time I waste each day on phone calls, e-mail, just moving too slowly, etc. I feel more connected to my two sweet sons (3 & 5) because I schedule time for "snuggling" (and playing ball with them), each night before bed. The schedule helps me anticipate what is coming next so I am not always entering into things off guard and unprepared. I know my husband was pleased to have dinner on the table each night when we arrived home - and a sense of peace and order to our evenings. The schedule definitely lightened his load which gave him more time to do his things.

I've been using MOTH every year since 1999 when I started my homeschool journey, at the time with two daughters, age four and 18 months and finally ran out of the scheduling materials.

Every year (or every baby, whichever comes first) I want to write you again and thank you for the book. I re-read it every time I make a new schedule and find it more and more helpful as our family grows. I have gotten pretty good at figuring out what it will all look like so I rarely have a need to tweak it at all anymore, since so much stays the same year to year, but it is really helpful to go back and redo the puzzle of our day with all the little colored tabs. I sure appreciate it, as it has meant we can accomplish so much more.

Thank you again. Our school year starts the first Monday in August and my new colorful schedule on the fridge will help guide us to being more productive and have more time to spend on the things that count. May God be glorified in all we do.
