We were delighted to come across this Soul Winner's New Testament awhile ago. The small size makes it easy to carry in a pocket or purse. We like to always carry Gospel tracts and these New Testaments with us. Not only do we enjoy giving out tracts to people that we meet on a daily basis, but whenever we talk with someone that has an open heart we always ask if they have a Bible at their house. If they don't, we give them one of these.

The Soul Winner's New Testament is briefly mentioned in Winter with the Moodys.

We are offering these Bibles at cost. Please note: The price for the Bibles will vary depending on when we order and the price the publisher gives us.

Details:
  • King James Version New Testament
  • Helpful notes throughout the Bible, including underlined verses, by Clift Brannon
  • Starting on page 377, Mr. Brannon presents a chain of Scriptures about salvation (whenever we give someone a Bible we always fold down the pages near 377 and show them the footnotes that will guide them through a chain of Scriptures)
  • Handy size, approximately 3x4.5x.625, 755 pages

Here is a story of how we were recently able to give one of these away:

One Saturday a month the men of our family go to the City Union Mission in downtown Kansas City to provide the lunch chapel service. Following the chapel service (which is similar to a church service, with an evangelistic focus), we interact and try to share with individual men as they eat.

This past Mission, as I walking across the lunch room (after attempting to start a number of conversations and having each one abruptly shut down when the person expressed a definite desire to not talk), a fellow waved me over to where he was and said he needed to talk. I thought, "Interesting, I wonder what this is all about." In the past, at the Mission, practically every time someone has waved me over and wanted to talk, they have wanted to argue a point, or had special needs and wanted to personally ask for money (which is against Mission rules— to ask or to give). Opportunities to share often come about after we start a conversation with someone who turns out to be open.

I sat down with the gentleman at an empty table and he started to share with me. He's struggled with drugs and alcohol all his life, and has two children with his girlfriend. He recently lost his job. The gas was turned off at their house that week, and his girlfriend (who also has a drug habit) kicked him out. Since it was a Saturday, he had stopped by the house earlier in the day to pick up his church clothes (he attends a local church and even plays guitar during their worship service). He had the plastic bag of clothes on the floor next to him. While he was at the house, his six year-old daughter told him that she needed to say goodbye because her mother had said that would be the last time she would ever see her daddy. He says he was completely shocked (it was like a knife to his heart), but all he could do was hug and kiss his children and say goodbye. What was amazing was that he wasn't asking me for money, but was seeking Jesus, and wanted counsel.

I asked if he thought God was removing everything from his life in order to get his attention and cause him to turn to Jesus, and he said he felt that was exactly what was happening. He said that when he heard his daughter say she would never see him again, he felt he had come to the absolute end of everything. Despite being in church all his life (and, as I mentioned, being a part of the worship team), he said he doesn't know Jesus.

We went through some of the ten commandments, and he genuinely understood and admitted his guilt before God. When I asked him where he would spend eternity if he was to die that very day, he said he would definitely be going to hell.

It was a joy to share with him about Jesus—and yet this man has been in church all his life and knew much in his head!

Using my Bible, we read through a number of Scriptures relating to salvation, as well as Matthew 7:21-23 (about those that will think they are headed for heaven but will find out they aren't). I encouraged him to continue seeking Jesus with his whole heart, to repent of his life of sin, to surrender all the idols in his life, to reconcile with the people in his life that he has wronged, and to be in the Scripture all day, every day, as he seeks the Lord.

I asked if he had a Bible, and he said he had one at his house (but no longer had access to it). I instantly pulled out my Soul Winner's New Testament and asked if he would be able to read the fine print—he said he could. I wrote his name in the front, along with my name and the date. I folded down page 377 (the Acts 16 reference when the jailer asks Paul "what must I do to be saved?") and showed him how the chain of Scriptures could be followed to read about salvation.

I also encouraged him to read the book of John over and over again, and to seek Jesus.

Even though he was seeking, he wasn't at a point of being ready to fully repent and surrender everything to the Lord. So, I prayed with him, and committed to continuing to pray for Him. As I pray, I'll be able to claim the promise of Isaiah 55:11 "So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it."

That is why we have been so blessed by these Soul Winner New Testaments.
