Writing a book
is a big project, and there were many mountaintops and valleys that we
walked through in the process. The goal of this page is to let you "behind-the-scenes"
- to see the good, the bad, and the funny! If you're interested in more
information about the book, click here. To order

Fact
#3
The
book is registered with the ISBN #0-9669107. We went through the ISBN
registration process, and even purchased a barcode of the ISBN number
to include on the back cover of the book. During the back cover layout
phase, we marked the location of the ISBN with a white box - the actual
ISBN bar code was to be added right before the cover went to press.
On a Tuesday
morning we went to the printer to watch them set-up the covers for print.
The color was also approved at this time. During lunch that day, the family
was looking at the sample page from the printer, when it was pointed out
that the BARCODE hadn't been added in!?! Lunch was forgotten while a hasty
call was made to the printer to tell them to "Stop the presses!"
Only 1,600 covers
had been printed without the barcode. We planned to simply put stickers
on those covers, but the printer decided to run them back through the
press and overprint the barcode!
