Writing a book
is a big project, and there were many mountaintops and valleys that we
walked through in the process. The goal of this page is to let you "behind-the-scenes"
- to see the good, the bad, and the funny! If you're interested in more
information about the book, click here. To order

Fact
#5
During
one of our reprintings we also changed printers. In the process,
we had to run new artwork for the entire book. Since that included
the covers, we thought it would be a good time to tweak the cover
design. We couldn't find the "source" file for the front
cover (and we couldn't find the scheduling kit we had scanned),
so we ended up creating and scanning a new "scheduling kit"
for the front cover. |
The
original front cover:

|
We
also moved the "Scheduling Kit Included" note from the
upper right to the lower right. We balanced out the words "Managers
of Their Homes" on the new cover as well.
Color
was another aspect that was tweaked. We really enjoyed the bright
colors on the original layout, but worked at making them even brighter
during the update. |
The
updated front cover:

|
| The
original back cover contained a lot of text, with long lines to read
across. It also lacked some of the color from the front cover. And
not only that, but the family photo was from 1999, and it didn't hurt
to update that as well. |
The
original back cover:

|
| The
updated back cover contains the same text as the original,
but is organized in easier-to-read sections. The blocks of color also
coordinate better with the front. We added two little stockart photos
to illustrate the change that so many families have experienced. We
used the same clock illustration in the background underneath the
text and colors. |
