MOTHBoard FAQ and Posting Criteria

Who Can Register and Post?

  • MOTHBoard registration and posting is only for those who own and have read MOTH AND have registered their book (last page in the book).

What Can Be Posted?

  • MOTHBoard was designed and intended to be a support for moms who are using Managers of Their Homes (MOTH) as a tool for their daily scheduling. Therefore, we will only approve posts that discuss and are supportive of the scheduling method described in it.
  • All posts must be MOTH scheduling related to be approved.

What If I Haven't Read My Book Yet?

  • Please wait to post on MOTHBoard, and read your book. We assume when questions are asked that you have MOTH and that your scheduling questions come after a careful reading of it. This saves MOTHBoard participants time answering questions that have already been answered in Managers of Their Homes.

May I Ask Others to Share Their Schedules On MOTHBoard?

  • We have provided many sample schedules in MOTH. MOTHBoard format does not allow for easy posting of schedules. However, we can post and discuss on MOTHBoard specific areas of a schedule.

Why Doesn't My Message Appear Right Away?

  • In order to keep this website focused and to protect our web visitors from bad language, inappropriate posts, or other offensive material, we have opted to approve each message before it appears on the forum. No other options (login requirements, server side scripts, etc.) provide the same level of protection!

I Posted a Message 2 Days Ago, and It Never Appeared.

  • Your message likely didn't meet the Posting Criteria and was not approved.

Why is There a 400 Word Posting Limit and What if I Continue My Post in Another Post?

  • We have a 400 word posting limit to keep MOTHBoard manageable for post approval and for those who are reading it. Therefore, if a poster continues a post beyond the 400 word limit into another post, the posts will either be returned for combination into one post that fits into the 400 word limit or the continuing post(s) deleted.

I Have Problems Posting to MOTHBoard.

  • In order to use MOTHBoard, you must be using an Internet Browser that supports cookies. If you're having problems posting and are receiving error messages relating to cookies, please make sure your browser supports cookies and that they are enabled.

Why Was My Post Edited?

  • As moderators, we have reserved the right to edit posts. We will take out a portion of a post that would cause it to not be approved, but we will not otherwise revise the post (unless a word or two needs to be added for the context of the post). Often a mom will write a long post that is fine, but one sentence would cause it to be disapproved. Therefore, we feel it is better to edit the post, in consideration of the value of the author's time, than to disapprove it. For example, we may have a post written answering a scheduling question, but the author's home business is mentioned. We will simply take that section of the post out. If post editing is offensive to you, we ask that you not be a part of our forums, reading or posting.

Do the Maxwells Agree with All the Posts That Are Approved on MOTHBoard?

  • No. Sometimes there are posts with which we disagree, but if they are MOTH-scheduling related, we may still approve them. However, there is a limit, and out of good conscience there might, on occasion, be some that are deleted and/or not approved.

Posting Criteria
Can I Post Links to Other Sites?

  • For the most part, we don’t allow linking to other sites although occasionally we do.
  • We don't approve any website that has a Yahoo.groups or a similar e-mail list or website hosting due to their promotion of “adult” material. We so strongly disagree with what these groups allow on their lists and the access to them that we won't approve sites that use them. Please look at the site you want to mention in your post and see who hosts their e-mail list before you post. If the site has e-mail lists that support their site, please check these out as well.
  • We don't approve links to message boards or websites similar in content to www.Titus2.com.
  • We don't approve links to sites that sell the same books as we sell. This is because maintaining MOTHBoard is very costly. We do this at our own personal expense. Our book sales helps to support MOTHBoard.
  • We don't approve links to sites that are obviously unchristian, immodest, or otherwise unacceptable.

What about Individuals with Resources for Sale?

  • We have established a "no self-promotion" policy.
  • We don't approve any post in which the author mentions her business, work, or something she or her family sells or has a vested interest in.
  • We don't approve posts that link to the poster's own website, even if there is nothing for sale on it.
  • We don't approve posts that mention or have the content of something the poster presents in workshops, has written for a publication or private dissemination, or anything else that is being used in other ways outside these boards.
  • We don't approve posts where the author posts frequently, in various areas, setting herself up as an authority.
  • We believe this policy is good for the board in general. It is also a protection for us. It means that we do not have to try to discern those individuals who may be using the boards for their own personal gain and purposes.

What about Individuals with Resources to Give Away?

  • We had to make a board policy to not offer items through the boards for sale or to give away either. While the "free" items might not make sense in the policy, we were faced, at one point, with posts offering things for free. When we inquired further, we found out that "donations" for the products would not be refused. We took the safe route to avoid this problem by making the policy include not allowing buying, selling, or giving away on MOTHBoard. We realize it is a difficult policy because it affects situations where the only desire is to bless another mom. However, we have found it very important on the board to be as totally consistent as possible.

What about Recommending Baby-Raising Materials?

  • We have found it necessary to develop a "policy" concerning the recommendation of baby-scheduling materials in posts. We are asking that all posts answering questions on babies be from personal experience or reference the MOTH book. We do not allow the mentioning of specific materials either "pro" or "con."
  • We do not want to come to be associated with any particular baby materials except what we share in Managers of Their Homes. We have written, in Managers of Their Homes, our own experiences with our babies to help moms who are interested in that aspect of our family. That is where we would like it to remain. Frankly, if there were some materials that we fully agreed with, we might have considered recommending them, but that has not been the case.
  • We appreciate your understanding on this matter. Again, remember that our desire on this board is to help moms who want to implement an overall schedule, which may or may not include scheduling babies. We are not here to persuade a mom to schedule her baby or not to schedule it. However, for those who want information on how to schedule a baby, we desire to make that information available when it is similar to the MOTH chapter on baby scheduling.

Medical and Legal Disclaimer

  • No suggestions given on the MOTHBoard are to be construed as medical/legal advice or counsel. They are merely thoughtful suggestions given by friends, based on their experience, just as you might hear from a friend during a face-to-face conversation. As with any suggestion, research it yourself. Whether that means running it by a doctor, lawyer, pastor, or certified counselor, research it until you are satisfied.

Legal Mumbo Jumbo

  • By using this site you are agreeing to hold us harmless and totally without liability. We make reasonable effort to ensure that the information we author/approve is accurate; however, mistakes are possible and the reader is responsible for the use of any information. The message boards are a public forum for which we take no responsibility. We do our best to screen and delete negative, inflammatory, inaccurate, dishonest, illegal, and/or objectionable posts/messages, but we cannot assume responsibility or liability for any posts/messages you read.

The Posting Test

When we began the MOTHBoard, we called this the "Encouragement Test." However, we have found we needed to change that name because what is encouraging to one mom can be discouraging to another.
We are committed to building mothers up as they are using a schedule, and we will not post messages that we consider argumentative, authoritative,  confrontational, inflammatory, or even ungrateful (such as asking for input and then criticizing the response given). Even if a person didn't mean her post that way, if we feel it could be taken that way, we will delete it. Ephesians 4:29, "Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification (building up), that it may impart grace to the hearers."

We are often told that MOTH has blessed a home. We believe part of that is because we haven't sought to change moms, just help them. We have not wanted to pour anyone into a predetermined mold, but have given mothers a tool, in the form of a schedule, that they can individually apply to their lives and homes as God leads.

We have been so honored to be a blessing to the most important, wonderful women on the face of this earth, mothers committed to pouring out their lives for their families. As a result, we will make every effort to ensure that each minute that a mother spends on the "board" away from the tasks at hand is valuable and uplifting.

We will delete posts when we feel the author has crossed the spirit of our forums. We often don't have time to notify you if a post was denied; it just won't appear. Then please don’t write and ask why it wasn’t approved.

We understand this board will be for some and not for others. We encourage you to seek your direction from the Lord. While we strive to please everyone, we have discovered with MOTHBoard it is simply not possible. If this forum does not meet your needs, we accept that and pray the Lord will direct you to a place that will.

May God bless you all richly with joy and contentment in your sacred calling.

In Christ Jesus,
Steve and Teri Maxwell
